Heather Barker
Client Director

“I never intended to work for a large company, and after working for a smaller firm that grew to an expansive private equity organisation, I knew I wanted to work somewhere more personal. VALLA’s size and independence appealed to me; it felt like a great fit right from the start. Having a voice in a company and making a difference is important, as is working in a friendly and professional environment.”

Heather has extensive experience in administering large numbers of multi-jurisdictional client entities, including trusts, companies, foundations and limited partnerships. These are primarily for families and entrepreneurs. The assets under her management have ranged from private equity investments to real estate and business ownership.

Heather joined a Jersey-based law firm as a trainee administrator in the Private Client team. She progressed from administrator, senior administrator and assistant manager to manager of a team of eight people in 2016.

In 2017, she took the decision to move to Valla. Her ambition had always been to work closely with clients, and she was encouraged by Valla’s independence and spread of ownership. Since joining, she has focused on mentoring and managing her team and overseeing technical transactions and project work, including reviewing and refreshing administration policies and procedures to maximise company efficiency.

Heather completed the ICSA Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration in 2008 and graduated from the ICSA Company Secretary Qualifying Scheme in 2012, being awarded Associate (Chartered Secretary) status in 2016. She also holds a Level 3 Team Management qualification with the Chartered Management Institute and a BSc (Hons) in Ocean Science.
